They are the staples of the Chris Boucher career highlight reel, the out-of-nowhere blocked shots where the long, lanky Montrealer appears seemingly out of the ether to swat away a layup or to knock a three-point attempt into the first row.
They are plays that evoke oohs and ahhs and lead the broadcast recaps, as they should. But for every jaw-dropping blocked shot at the rim, Boucher might miss and the guy he’s supposed to be blocking out might simply grab an easy rebound and make a layup.
And for every three-pointer he goes flying at and gets, there might be two times that a savvy shooter pump fakes and sends Boucher flying into the seats before calmly side-stepping the Raptors big man and getting an open look at a shot.
