CLEVELAND—Richard Jefferson sounded almost Phil Jackson-like as he explained the situation he and his teammates were in on Wednesday morning.
The Cleveland Cavaliers guard spoke earnestly in an interview on his team’s website. They’d just finished their morning shootaround, their series with the Raptors tied 2-2, six days after they’d taken a 2-0 lead and looked like they could become the 2016 NBA champs.
That lead and the Cavs’ dominance felt like so long ago.
“You look at this series and we never expected that we were going to come in here and sweep,” Jefferson said.
