Cavaliers edge Raptors while Carroll rests

CLEVELAND—Dwane Casey didn’t want to refer to these blockbuster games that his Toronto Raptors are now firmly in the middle of as measuring sticks. It’s too soon in the season, there’s too much of a team’s identity to still be formed and, for the Raptors, there were too many key pieces not in the equation for the outcome to really mean anything.

As they do in back-to-back games, the Raptors opted to rest forward DeMarre Carroll for one of them, making him a spectator for their 121-117 loss to the Cavaliers. The night of rest frees him up for Wednesday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors at the Air Canada Centre.
