ATLANTA—The Raptors were shut out in voting for the Rising Stars challenge involving first- and second-year players at the NBA’s all-star weekend, but Canada wasn’t.
Denver Nuggets guard Jamal Murray, of Kitchener, and Memphis Grizzlies swingman Dillon Brooks, of Mississauga, were named to the nine-man “world” team that will face the USA on the Friday of all-star weekend.
Murray was the most valuable player of the game last year in New Orleans, while Brooks is a rookie making his debut.
Philadelphia’s Joel Embiid, Dario Saric and Ben Simmons will join Murray, Brooks, Sacramento’s Buddy Hield and Bogdan Bogdanovic, Chicago’s Lauri Markkanen, New York’s Frank Ntilinka and Domantas Sabonis of Indiana on the world team.
