Bismack Biyombo signs four-year deal with Orlando Magic

Bismack Biyombo is gone.

The fan-favourite Toronto Raptors backup centre, who endeared himself to teammates and fans with his enthusiasm, shot-blocking and defence-first presence in just one season, has agreed to a four-year deal with the Orlando Magic.

Jon Krawczyski of the Associated Press first had the signing, ESPN.com’s Marc Stein reported it was worth in the neighbourhood of $70 million (U.S.) as Biyombo struck it rich coming off the best season of his career.

Due the vagaries of the NBA’s salary cap, the Raptors had no chance to re-sign the backup centre, who was paid about $3 million last season.
