An ode to joy, and other moments to remember at the end of Vince Carter’s 22-year career

It’s funny what comes to mind when Vince Carter does the expected and announces the end of the longest career in NBA history, a career that began and reached its zenith while Air Canada wore the jersey of the Toronto Raptors.

Yes, there was the 2001 NBA dunk contest, a seminal moment and arguably Carter’s legacy to the game. There was the emergence of Vinsanity, a global phenomenon that gave the neophyte franchise a worldwide legitimacy. There was the first basket ever scored in what was then known as the Air Canada Centre, a Carter dunk off a Charles Oakley lob.
