Back in 2015, the Toronto Maple Leafs drafted Stephen Desrocher in the sixth round, 155th overall. When they first selected him, the defenceman had put up 23 points over 66 games for the Oshawa Generals; in the following year, he ended up scoring 46 points over 69 games for both the Generals and Kingston Frontenacs.
Now 20 and in his final junior season, Desrocher has 25 points in 34 games - 15 of which came in December alone.
That’s definitely enough for the OHL to name him the Defenceman of the Month for December:
Desrocher led all defencemen with 15 points including two goals and 13 assists over 10 games as the Frontenacs played to a 5-1-4-0 record.
