Prospect Watch: Fedor Gordeev makes Memorial Cup debut with Guelph

HALIFAX – The Guelph Storm (1-0) was sparked by a natural hat trick by Alexey Topolchenko en route to defeating the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (0-1) on the second day of the Memorial Cup. Topolchenko, St. Louis’s 4th round draft choice in 2017, achieved the feat in a span of just 7 minutes, 23 seconds in the first period.

Defenceman Fedor Gordeev, Toronto’s fifth-round draft choice, 141st overall, in 2017 made his Memorial Cup debut after registering two goals and one assist plus 21 penalty minutes in 23 OHL playoff games.

Listed at 6-foot-7, 224 pounds, Gordeev was traded to the Storm from the last-place Flint Firebirds in January.
