NHL Buyout Candidates – Atlantic Division (Part II)

There has been some talk that with next year’s salary cap going to be the same as this year, or possibly less, teams could be given the option of using a compliance buyout. Part II of the potential buyout candidates for the Atlantic Division.

The National Hockey League faces a potential financial dilemma even if they are able to complete the 2019-20 season this summer. With projected losses of over $1 Billion, that potentially could see a significant increase in escrow for 2020-21. The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun and Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman have indicated that this situation may provide the impetus to the league and the NHL Player’s Association to work together on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement to provide a roadmap for financial stability over the next decade.
