19-year-old winger Dmitry Ovchinnikov scored his first career AHL goal in his fourth game after coming over from Russia (in the nick of time) midseason. Little Ovi didn’t get the prettiest first goal, but he got right into the thick of it and found the puck. I don’t think he’s especially small (he’s very very thin like most teenage players are) but he looks like an absolute Hobbit next to the Ent Curtis Douglas.
That wasn’t all that happened in the game as the Abbotsford Canucks had their elbows and right in the ears of the Marlies.
