The United States are ahead 1-0 at halftime after an excellent goal from Toronto FC striker Jozy Altidore. The strike from a free kick came late in the half after Jamaica had done well to hold the United States scoreless.
But in the 45th minute Altidore curled a free kick into the top left corner of the Jamaican goal to break the deadlock. It was his 39th goal for the United States, and his second of Gold Cup.
Altidore, and Toronto FC teammate Michael Bradley joined the United States in the quarterfinal stage of the tournament.
