HARRISON, N.J. - Maybe it wasn't that surprising that even serious U.S. youth national team geeks hadn't seen much of Marky Delgado when Tab Ramos named the Los Angeles-area native to the American squad for last summer's FIFA U-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
Delgado, then 19, had an impressive 37 MLS appearances at the time, but all of them had come with now defunct LA-based club Chivas USA (with whom he signed a homegrown deal as a 16-year-old), a team that might as well have not existed for neutrals for its final few seasons before it was put out of its misery following the domestic league's 2014 campaign.
