It kept the bell at bay last weekend in Montreal and now, Toronto FC heads to the West Coast with hopes of silencing the Portland Timbers’ goal-time gimmick, mascot Timber Joey and his raucous chainsaw.
“The chainsaw . . . hopefully we can keep it quiet,” centre back Drew Moor said ahead of the Reds’ visit to last year’s MLS Cup champions Sunday. “The biggest thing is if you do concede, don’t let it turn into two and three goals. They can get a run of momentum there, especially with those fans.”
Two months ago, this matchup appeared daunting for Toronto.
