Toronto FC to play Tigres in Campeones Cup

We’re officially getting a CONCACAF Champions League rematch this fall. After defeating Santos Laguna 4-0 on Sunday in the Campeon design Campeones, Tigres UANL secured their place in this inaugural competition between the Liga MX and MLS champions.

Tigres won the 2017 Apertura season in Liga MX, and Santos are the reigning 2018 Clausura champions. TFC, of course, qualify for winning the 2017 MLS Cup.

The game is set for September 19, at BMO Field. Last time Tigres were in Toronto, TFC won 2-1 from a late Jonathan Osorio backheel winner. The Reds advanced from the quarter-final tie the next week, losing 3-2 in Monterrey and thus winning on away goals.
