Toronto FC is not taking Portland Timbers lightly

The Timbers' descent from the dizzying high of winning the MLS Cup in 2015 is a reminder to the Reds to not be spoiled by success, because MLS is designed to produce parity.

Fanendo Adi is one of the holdovers from the Portland Timbers' championship season in 2015. Two years removed from that MLS Cup campaign, Portland is in the middle of the Western Conference table with a 9-7-8 record going into Saturday's match against Toronto FC at BMO Field.

For Greg Vanney and Toronto FC, the plight of the Portland Timbers over the 2016 season is something of a cautionary tale.
