Toronto FC II keeper Angelo Cavalluzzo out long-term with ruptured Achilles

Toronto FC II assistant coach Chris Pozniak told WTR’s James Grossi on Monday that goalkeeper Angelo Cavalluzzo will be out of the lineup long-term with a ruptured Achilles tendon. The keeper appeared to twist his leg badly while backpedaling to try and stop Miguel Jaime’s goal in TFC II’s 1-0 loss to Penn FC last Wednesday.

The injury came on the back of an overall excellent performance from Cavalluzzo, who had made five saves to that point (including a remarkable penalty stop on Tom Heinemann). He was stretchered off the pitch at Monarch Park, and TFC II defender Tim Kubel donned the gloves to play goal for the last few minutes of the match.
