Kyle Silveira proudly waved an oversized Toronto FC flag as he and dozens of others dressed in red travelled down Atlantic Ave. in Liberty Village on Wednesday evening, destined for the bright lights of BMO Field.
Ahead of him was Reds general manager Tim Bezbatchenko — sporting a red, white and blue scarf — leading the charge toward Toronto’s first-ever MLS playoff home game against the Philadelphia Union.
Bezbatchenko was accompanied by local drumline 416 Beats, its loud, customized TFC drums drawing plenty of attention from passers-by.
Behind Silveira were dozens of Toronto FC fans, defying the city’s first real blast of cold weather with scarves, toques and lively chants of “Oh when the Reds” to the tune of “When the Saints Go Marching In.
