Sebastian Giovinco’s participation in Toronto FC’s first Canadian Championship game of the season Wednesday against Montreal will be a game-time decision.
The Italian pulled up with an adductor strain about 20 minutes into the Reds’ 3-0 loss to New York Red Bulls Saturday.
An MRI identified the injury as a minor grade-one issue earlier this week, and Toronto coach Greg Vanney called his star striker “day to day.”
“We’ll see where he’s at. He’s got to be in a very good place,” Vanney said of Giovinco’s chances at lacing up for the first leg of the tournament’s semifinal.
