SALT LAKE CITY—It’s now nine times that Sebastian Giovinco has stepped up to the penalty spot in a Toronto FC jersey and nine times the striker has angled his shot toward the bottom left corner.
Seven of those instances ended in goals; one went off the post.
On Saturday, though, someone finally figured the striker out. And in doing so, Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando helped his team hold the Reds to a 0-0 tie in the Major League Soccer season opener for both teams.
It was not a picture perfect start for Toronto despite the picture perfect view of the Wasatch Mountains from Rio Tinto Stadium.
