It has become apparent in recent weeks that the biggest hurdle between Toronto FC and the Supporters’ Shield might not be the top opponents left on their schedule but the non-playoff teams more willing to commit to all-out defending.
Another obstacle of that type could stand in their way tonight, when the Philadelphia Union - currently ninth in the Eastern Conference - visit BMO Field. The Union’s only road win this year came back in May against D.C. United.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, attention in Toronto is already turning to Sunday’s trip to Stade Saputo to face the Montreal Impact but these three points are worth the same.
