TFC goalkeeper Clint Irwin out six weeks

Toronto FC goalkeeper Clint Irwin will be sidelined for six weeks after suffering a quadriceps strain against Orlando City SC over the weekend.

Irwin pulled up while taking a goal kick in the 70th minute of Saturday’s 3-2 loss to the Lions.

He was replaced in net by 22-year-old Alex Bono, playing in his first Major League Soccer game.

The Reds’ No. 1 ’keeper, who has made 18 appearances in his first season with Toronto, did not travel to Vancouver, where the Reds will take on Canadian rivals Vancouver Whitecaps in the final of the Amway Canadian Championship on Wednesday.
