Six points dropped, 10 points ahead.
That’s how the one of the toughest spells of Toronto FC’s year played out last week as the Reds posted back-to-back losses for the first time since early 2016, falling to the Montreal Impact at home and New England Revolution on the road.
It’s a luxury the Reds could afford, a testament to how good their season has been so far, as the team still maintained a 10-point lead in the overall standings on second-place New York City FC in their quest for the club’s first Supporters’ Shield. Two wins from their final three games would tie the league record for points in a single season with the 1998 Los Angeles Galaxy (68); anything more and the record is all theirs.
