Reds look for season-opening sweep of New York teams

With Toronto FC’s second game of the year comes a sense of deja vu.

After kicking off its season with a 2-0 win over the New York Red Bulls, the Reds return to the New York area Sunday to take on New York City FC. There, the team will again face an attack-minded side eager to impress fans in its home opener.

While Toronto found success in New Jersey, thanks to two late goals from Sebastian Giovinco and Marky Delgado, midfielder Will Johnson said the team knows there are no guarantees going into this week’s match.

“(There were) a lot of good starting points (against the Red Bulls) but obviously it’s one game out of 34.
