After Toronto FC’s spirit-crushing 2-1 loss at home to the Vancouver Whitecaps, striker Jozy Altidore spoke to the media with the same air of disappointment that surrounded the rest of his teammates. However, one thing he said did strike an unexpected chord that raised some questions about his future at the club.
“It all depends how we come back next year, if we’re all around,” he said, discussing how TFC can bounce back from a tough year before changing his tack. “And if not, then it’s been an absolute pleasure to come to a club that wasn’t known for its success and to turn things around, to see the joy in this city, the soccer fans here that stuck with the team for a lot of years.
