It looks like Toronto FC may be using this lone striker formation for a while. The club announced today that Jozy Altidore will miss approximately 4-6 more weeks after undergoing surgery earlier today in which bone fragments were removed from his foot.
The striker hasn’t played for TFC since the CONCACAF Champions League final against Chivas Guadalajara. Prior to that, he’d played 11 total games for the Reds in 2018, scoring five times.
TFC announced that Altidore underwent the procedure in New York, and that it was successful.
Unfortunately, Greg Vanney will now have to figure out what to do with one of his first-choice strikers out for so long.
