2021 Canadian Championship postponed; TFC automatically advances to CONCACAF Champions League

TORONTO, Canada—The 2021 Canadian Championship between Forge FC and Toronto FC has been postponed, Canada Soccer announced today.

While the game was reportedly slated to be played on March 20 at BMO Field, an outbreak of multiple positive COVID-19 cases at Toronto FC training camp earlier this week has indeed put a dent into those plans.

“Canada Soccer have confirmed that Toronto FC will be the Canadian representative in the 2021 Concacaf Champions League with an agreement reached by Canada Soccer and both Forge FC and Toronto FC that every effort will be made to hold the Canadian Championship at a later date pending league schedules and in accordance with all public health and safety measures,” wrote Canada Soccer in a press release.
