Unlikely big leaguers the glue of Blue Jays roster

DUNEDIN, Fla. — Chris Colabello paused for a moment, composed himself, then tried to explain exactly what Opening Day in the big leagues means to him.

“It’s special,” the Blue Jays first baseman said rather slowly, his lower lip quivering, his mind fighting to find the right words. The rather ordinary question normally gets a rather ordinary response but there is little ordinary about Colabello.

“I get emotional just thinking about stuff like that. It’s been such an interesting path for me,” he said.

“It’s an honour to be playing this game, the game is so wonderful.
