Sanchez, Blue Jays' defense struggle in loss

ST. PETERSBURG -- Aaron Sanchez didn't have control from the start. The offense didn't click until it was too late. So the sliding Blue Jays were left with a 5-3 defeat against the Rays on Saturday night at Tropicana Field.

The Blue Jays, who have lost four of their last five games, had a two-run rally in the eighth inning and designated hitter Yangervis Solarte represented the potential tying run at the plate with two outs. But Rays closer Alex Colome blew a 2-2 fastball past Solarte, ending the threat and causing frustrations to boil over.
