TORONTO - With Don Cherry and actor Stephen Amell doing some of the heavy lifting, Josh Donaldson has surged into a commanding position to be the starting third baseman for the American League in the all-star game in Cincinnati July 14.
A month ago, Donaldson trailed Kansas City's Mike Moustakas by more than four million votes. Now he has a 1.3-million vote lead on Moustakas and, in the process, has become the overall leader in votes among AL players with 11.7 million cast in his direction.
"I can't tell you how thankful I've been for all the support," Donaldson said.
