If Major League Baseball is willing to revisit its opposition to legalized single event sports betting, then it’s time Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the federal Liberal government did the same.
Last fall, the Trudeau Liberals voted against an NDP private member’s bill supporting legalized sports betting.
This despite the fact the nine provinces with casinos supported the legalization and regulation of single event sports wagering.
Some Liberals opposed the bill because of professional baseball’s opposition to it.
But on Feb. 6 at the Yahoo Finance All Markets Summit in New York, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred announced professional baseball will re-examine its opposition to legalized sports betting.
