Hurting Joses put strain on Blue Jays roster

TORONTO - The biggest problem the Jays have going for them that is not related to the pitching rotation is the health of the two Joses.

It is 15 days since Jose Bautista strained his right shoulder making an ill-advised throw to first base in a game against Baltimore. Initially he sat out five games but then returned and for nine of the past 10 games he has been in the lineup as the DH.

The ramifications of that development resulted in Edwin Encarnacion playing at first base with Justin Smoak on the bench except for his start on Tuesday.
