Hudgens named Blue Jays' bench coach

The Toronto Blue Jays announced on Wednesday night that Dave Hudgens has been named the club's new bench coach. The announcement was made by executive vice president, baseball operations and general manager Ross Atkins.

Hudgens, 61, has spent the last four seasons with the Houston Astros as the team's hitting coach, winnig a World Series championship in 2017. Prior to that, he served as hitting coach for the New York Mets (2011-14) and the Oakland Athletics (1999, 2003-05).

"Dave Hudgens brings an exceptional coaching background to our organization, including a wealth of experience and the ability to combine his baseball knowledge with a forward-thinking approach to help our team," Atkins said.
