TORONTO -- The Blue Jays got a potential core piece of their future back on Friday afternoon with the return of infielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
Gurriel was activated from the 10-day disabled list prior to Friday's series opener against the Phillies. In a corresponding move, infielder Richard Urena was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo to make room on the 40-man roster.
The 24-year-old Gurriel had been out since the end of July with a high left ankle sprain and a Grade 1 left knee sprain.
