Floyd sidelined 8-12 weeks by torn lat

DENVER -- The Blue Jays could be without right-hander Gavin Floyd for the rest of the season after an MRI revealed he has a torn lat.

Toronto announced on Tuesday afternoon that Floyd will be out for eight to 12 weeks because of the injury. He will not require surgery, but Floyd faces a long road to recovery.

With slightly more than three months remaining in the season, the only way Floyd can return this year is if he were to improve closer to the eight-week time frame.

"No surgery, but it's a long healing process," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said.
