Fantasy Fare: Gio good and bad at the same time

Gio Gonzalez owners have to be among the most flummoxed in fantasy baseball these days, at least as far as starting pitching goes. Dallas Keuchel and Matt Harvey have blown hot and cold in disappointing seasons so far, but Gonzalez, after a dazzling start to the schedule, has careened off the proverbial cliff. Following Friday’s 7-2 loss in Cinci, the Nationals lefty has now allowed 18 earned runs in his past three starts, after giving up just 10 total in his first seven, jettisoning his ERA from 1.86 to 3.94. There are plenty of puzzling aspects to this slide: In two of his past three starts, he did not walk a batter.
