Diaz carted off with ankle sprain after RBI single

ST. PETERSBURG -- Blue Jays shortstop Aledmys Diaz was removed from Sunday's game against the Rays after sustaining a left ankle sprain in a bang-bang play at first base during the fifth inning. X-rays were negative, but Diaz was scheduled to undergo an MRI and further evaluation.

Diaz was called safe but his left foot caught the outside of the first-base bag and he crumpled to the turf a few steps past the base.
