It will be with a heavy heart that Blue Jays’ draft pick Brody Rodning embarks on the traditional family fishing trip to Minaki, in northwestern Ontario, this weekend.
Normally it’s a fun and joyful experience for the Rodnings, spending time together in a gorgeous wilderness setting while fishing for some prize walleye.
But this year the trip has a new, and very sad, purpose. This year Brody Rodning and his family are taking his mom’s remains on the trip.
“We’re going up there to spread mom’s ashes, because that’s what she wanted,” Rodning told Postmedia on Thursday.
