TORONTO — It’s never, ever a good sign when the head athletic trainer is surrounded by a media scrum during a playoff series.
But that was exactly the case Saturday afternoon when George Poulis was trotted out on to the Rogers Centre turf to talk about a pair of Blue Jays who were hurt in different ways in Friday’s 5-3 Game 2 victory in Texas.
The main concern was the status of starter-turned-setup-guy Francisco Liriano, who was belted in the back of the head by a 102-mph, line drive off the bat of Carlos Gomez in the eighth inning.
