Fisher Cats Move On
Backed by a strong outing from Markham, Ontario’s Jordan Romano, the Double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats advanced to the Eastern League Championship Series Friday after a 5-1 victory. With a 3-0 series sweep of the Trenton Thunder (Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees), the Cats will now face the winner of a series involving the Akron RubberDucks (Indians affiliate) and the Altoona Curve (Pirates affiliate).
Cavan Biggio and Harold Ramirez both notched RBI singles, while catcher Patrick Cantwell went 3-for-4.
Lugnuts Eliminated from Playoffs
While the Blue Jays’ Double-A affiliate will be advancing to the next round of their postseason, the team’s Class-A affiliate, the Lansing Lugnuts, will not.
