Blue Jays Morning Brew: Latos, Jackson & More

Blue Jays talking with Mat Latos

On Wednesday news broke that the Blue Jays were nearing an agreement with veteran right-hander, Mat Latos. Latos spent the 2016 season split between the Chicago White Sox and Washington Nationals, finishing with a 4.89 ERA in 17 appearances, including 12 starts.

Latos broke into the MLB with the Padres in 2009, and actually finished 8th in NL Cy Young voting in 2010 when he went 14-7 with a 2.89 ERA as a 22 year old.

It’s possible he could be used as starting depth in Triple A, or the Blue Jays could be looking at him as a potential option in the bullpen.
