TORONTO - Jose Bautista’s injury gave Ryan Goins (pictured) a chance to prove another aspect of his versatility by starting in left field Wednesday against the Orioles. It’s part of a plan that goes back to spring training.
“When we decided on (Devon) Travis at second base, the thought was to turn Goins into a super-utility guy. We gave him some outfield work (near the end of camp) and he tracked the ball pretty good,” Jays manager John Gibbons said. “He played left, centre and right and played them all pretty well. I want to see how Go-Go does out there tonight.
