Buried in the blockbuster Chris Colabello news on Friday was the Blue Jays’ plans to at least temporarily bolster its starting pitching rotation as the team heads into a busy stretch.
Manager John Gibbons revealed that 6-foot-3 right hander Drew Hutchison will be summoned from the triple-A Buffalo Bisons and likely will get the start for Sunday’s game against the Oakland Athletics.
With 29 games in the next 30 days, Gibbons could use a six-man rotation to give the starting arms a break.
To take Colabello’s spot on the roster, meanwhile, the Jays have also recalled left-handed reliever Chad Girodo from Buffalo.
