Atlanta Dream select Kentucky Wildcats' Rhyne Howard with top pick in 2022 WNBA draft

The Atlanta Dream selected Kentucky guard Rhyne Howard with the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft on Monday night in New York.

The 6-foot-2 Howard averaged 20.5 PPG and 7.4 RPG this season for the Wildcats, who won the SEC tournament before being upset in the NCAA tournament's first round by Princeton.

Draftees were able to attend the event for the first time since 2019, as the draft had to be done remotely in 2020 and 2021 because of COVID-19.

Howard's 284 career 3-pointers are part of what makes her a multi-dimensional threat, as she is also big enough to post up against most defenders.
