Yankees to Honor Alex Rodriguez’s 3,000th Hit With a Ceremony in September

TORONTO — The once frigid relationship between Alex Rodriguez and the Yankees has turned downright cuddly. The latest example came Friday when the team announced it would celebrate Rodriguez reaching the 3,000-hit plateau by holding a day in his honor at Yankee Stadium.

The team will hold a ceremony before its 1:05 p.m. game on Sunday, Sept. 13, against the Toronto Blue Jays.

“I never thought a year ago that I’d be getting any ceremony, that’s for sure,” Rodriguez said before Friday’s game against the Blue Jays. “There was a thought that maybe I wasn’t going to play baseball ever again, so to be celebrated at home, I’m honored.
