Yankees 8, Twins 4: Alex Rodriguez’s Grand Slam Comes at Right Time

When Alex Rodriguez arrived at home plate Tuesday night with the bases loaded in the seventh inning and the Yankees trailing the Minnesota Twins by three runs, chants of “Let’s Go A-Rod” seemed like wishful thinking.

Rodriguez had been in a dreadful funk this month, with one harmless single in the last week. He even admitted two days earlier that he felt terrible at the plate.

But with one swing, Rodriguez wiped away his struggles, belting a majestic home run to deep center field — one he admired by holding his follow-through and looking into the Yankees’ dugout — that lifted the Yankees to a 8-4 victory.
