Yankees 5, Mariners 3: Drew’s Two Hits Help the Yankees Snatch a Victory

SEATTLE — Perhaps it was the two days Stephen Drew spent reviewing years-old video and tinkering with his swing in the batting cage. Maybe it was a reversal of his miserable fortunes. Or possibly it was the haircut he got a couple of hours before the first pitch.

Whatever it was, Drew had a rare night to smile about Tuesday after the Yankees5-3, 11-inning victory over the Seattle Mariners.

He delivered a two-out, two-strike double to tie the score in the ninth inning, then started a two-out rally in the 11th that culminated in Garrett Jones’s three-run homer.
