The Cruiserweight Classic, the brainchild of HHH, is a 32-man tournament for wrestlers 205 pounds and under. It will air weekly on the WWE Network until September. It serves two important purposes:
1. It provides content for the Network that can be marketed to a specific audience looking for a more high-flying style.
2. It is developing more talent to replace those who are pulled from NXT to fill up the draft rosters on the main shows, which makes this a de facto third brand for WWE.

The show is filmed in Orlando at Full Sail University, home of NXT, but with some nice cosmetic differences.
