The Harris Field outfield was brimming with kids and players from each of the 10 Avista NAIA World Series teams. There was music sounding and the general loud excitement of children as kids from ages 5-12 were let loose to play and have fun with the athletes during the different events and drills at the annual American Baseball Coaches Association Kids Clinic sponsored by P1FCU on Wednesday.
The annual kids event is a precursor to the Avista NAIA World Series, set to begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday with a matchup between Hope International (Calif.) and Cumberlands (Ky.).
Wednesday’s kids clinic included players running hundreds of children through the different drills, which included: pitching, fielding pop flys, fielding ground outs, sliding, throwing in general, catching in general, baserunning, pickle drills and some other events.
