World Series 2016: Young Cubs are champions, and they won't need 108 years to win again

CLEVELAND — At the end of “The Hunt For Red October,” Jack Ryan, played by Alec Baldwin, is riding with Capt. Marko Ramius, played by Sean Connery, on the outside of the titular submarine as it cruises down the Penobscot River in Maine. Ramius has successfully defected from the Soviet Union, bringing the ultimate weapon of the sea with him to the United States.

“And the sea will grant each man new hope … his sleep brings dreams of home,” Ramius says, then identifying the man he’s quoting. “Christopher Columbus.”

“Welcome to the new world, sir,” Ryan replies, and the music rises as the camera pans to a blue-shrouded dawn before the credits roll.
