The Minnesota Lynx have decided not to wear their "Black Lives Matter" T-shirts during a road trip to Texas to play the San Antonio Stars.
During the team's home game against the Dallas Wings Saturday, four off-duty police officers working security walked out because the team wore the shirts; the shirts had the phrase, "Change starts with us — Justice & Accountability," on them.
"The Lynx organization was made aware about the concerns of the off-duty Minneapolis police officers," a team spokesperson said Tuesday, via ESPN.com. "While our players' message mourned the loss of life due to last week's shootings, we respect the right of those individual officers to express their own beliefs in their own way.
